Remaining vigilant with Wellington

We encourage everyone to be vigilant about internet fraudulent schemes.  See important information on scams and signs to look out for to help you protect your investments.

Things to look out for

  1. Fraudulent websites: Fraudulent websites may copy Wellington official websites, text, images, logos, and other content.  Be aware of variations in internet domains which include the word “Wellington” within their name.  PLEASE NOTE: Wellington does not request direct payments through the website.

    Examples of fraudulent websites include, but are not limited to: 

    wellingtontransaction.site;
    wellingtoncareerconnect.com;
    wellinvests.uk;
    wellingtongroup;
    And others.


  2. Impersonation of Wellington Employees: Internet scammers can easily create fake personas impersonating Wellington employees. These fake personas will likely be used in conjunction with look alike domains, social media platforms, chat platforms, or other platforms in an attempt to legitimize the scammer's offerings.

  3. Business Opportunities conducted over social media and chat platforms: Unsolicited communications and investment opportunities initiated through social media platforms including WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, and others. Wellington does not perform business transactions, payment requests, or direct interactions through social media platforms.
  4.  Unsolicited Emails with Job Offers: Wellington follows a traditional recruitment process that requires a formal application process and video interviews with the hiring manager and other stakeholders. Wellington will never require a pre-payment or request that candidates deposit checks. For more information on this type of scam visit the Federal Trade Commision Consumer Advice website.
  5. Text Messages: Wellington does not use text messages to conduct business. Internet scammers frequently use text messages requesting the recipient to click through a link or engage in further conversation. These attempts may lead to phishing sites where scammers may attempt to steal passwords or to convince someone to purchase gift cards for the scammer.
  6. Bank Transfers: Always validate wire transfers and bank payments by telephone with trusted third parties using phone numbers that exist on file. If a client makes changes to wire instructions or related information, Wellington will verify these changes by calling and validating the information. Email is not a secure way to make changes to bank transfer details. Always verify with a trusted third party by telephone.
  7. Sense of Urgency: Cyber criminals often attempt to coerce or pressure victims to make payments, respond to emails, or take related actions. Beware of any contact you receive which encourages you to make decisions or payments with urgency.
