Sam is a fixed income portfolio manager at Wellington. He is primarily focused on the global impact bond approach, for which he conducts credit research and oversees the team’s process for building its proprietary universe of impact issuers, collaborating closely with the broader sustainable investing platform and with firmwide credit, equity and ESG research teams.
Prior to his role on the Global Impact Bond Team, Sam was a senior credit analyst on Wellington’s Emerging Markets Debt Investment Team (2010 – 2023), with research coverage focused on Latin American and African corporate debt issuers. Prior to joining Wellington Management in 2010, Sam was with Bank of America’s asset management division as a senior high yield credit analyst (2006 – 2010). Prior to that, he spent time at WPA Inc., a private equity fund manager, and before that he was a manager of international strategy in Bank of America’s corporate strategy and development department (2003 – 2005). He started his career as a management consultant with Accenture (1997 – 2001).
Sam earned his MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management (2003) and his master of science in chemical engineering (1997) from the University of Maryland. He also holds a bachelor of science in chemistry with a minor in mathematics from American University (1995).
