Asia Credit Income Fund

An actively managed and dynamic Asian credit fund

Important information

- The Fund primarily invests in a diversified portfolio of Asian domiciled, US dollar-denominated credit instruments.

- The Fund is therefore exposed to risks relating to credit instruments, fixed income and other debt securities including but not limited to counterparty risks, interest rate risks, volatility and liquidity risks, downgrading risks, risk associated with debt securities rated below investment grade or unrated, sovereign debt risk, valuation risk and credit rating risk.

- The Fund is also exposed to emerging markets risks, risks relating to securities issued by REITs, risk of investing in Rule 144A and regulation S Securities, risk relating to ETFs, concentration risks and currency risk including conversion risk for Renminbi denominated classes.

- The Fund may also invest in debt instruments with loss absorption features which are subject to higher risks when compared to traditional debt instruments.

- The Fund may be exposed to risk associated with investment in China including Renminbi currency and conversion risks and Bond Connect risk.

- The Fund may use financial derivatives instruments (FDIs) for investment and hedging purposes. The use of leverage can result in a loss significantly greater than the amount invested in the FDIs by the Fund. Exposure to FDIs may lead to a high risk of significant loss by the Fund.

- The Fund may at its discretion pay dividend out of capital. The Fund may also at its discretion pay dividend out of gross income while charging all or part of the Fund’s fees and expenses to the capital of the Fund, resulting in an increase in distributable income for the payment of dividends by the Fund and therefore, the Fund may effectively pay dividend out of capital. Payment of dividends out of capital amounts to a return or withdrawal of part of an investor’s original investment or from any capital gains attributable to that original investment. Any distributions involving payment of dividends out of the Fund’s capital or payment of dividends effectively out of the Fund’s capital (as the case may be) may result in an immediate reduction of the net asset value per share/unit. The distribution amount and net asset value of a hedged share class may be adversely affected by differences in the interest rates of the reference currency of the hedged share class and the Fund’s base currency, resulting in an increase in the amount of distribution that is paid out of capital and hence a greater erosion of capital than other non-hedged share classes.

- Investors should not make investment decisions based on this document alone. Investors should refer to the Prospectus and Key Facts Statement for details including risk factors.

- The Fund’s investment portfolio may fall in value and therefore your investment in the Fund may suffer losses. There is no guarantee of the repayment of principal.

FUND OVERVIEW

The Wellington Asia Credit Income Fund seeks long-term total returns, with a secondary focus on regular income. The Fund is actively managed, primarily investing in Asian-domiciled, US dollar-denominated credit instruments.

Fund Highlights
  • Experienced: The firm has been investing in Asian credit since 1999, through dedicated emerging market debt portfolios. Our experienced investment team leverages the depth of broader emerging market debt expertise, as well as Wellington’s real-time collaboration with analysts across asset classes to provide independent perspectives on Asian credit.
  • Dynamic: The Fund can invest opportunistically across Asian credit, local debt markets and currencies. We aim to identify the best ideas in the investment opportunity set to deliver a high-conviction, active portfolio. In our view, this can be achieved by exploiting valuations- and event-driven mispricings through top-down and bottom-up inputs.
  • Risk-adjusted income: The Fund aims to deliver a consistent level of income. Portfolio exposures are managed through a risk-controlled approach and an average investment grade credit rating.* In addition, the Fund’s risk-controlled approach seeks to maintain regular income and implement ESG characteristics via proprietary scoring and exclusions.

ESG: environmental, social and governance. * The weighted average credit quality of the Fund will typically be investment grade i.e. at or above Baa3 by Moody’s, BBB- by Standard & Poor's, or BBB- by Fitch. For funds/share classes with a distribution feature, such classes aim at monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annual distribution (where applicable). Dividend rate is not guaranteed. Distributions may be paid from capital.
