Erin K. Murphy to Succeed Edward J. Steinborn as Chief Financial Officer of Wellington Management

Boston, MA., 10 February 2022 — Wellington Management, one of the world’s largest investment management firms, today announced that Erin K. Murphy, CFA, will succeed Edward J. Steinborn as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. Steinborn plans to retire in June 2023. Ms. Murphy, who will be reporting to Chief Executive Officer Jean M. Hynes, will be transitioning into the role, assuming responsibilities when Mr. Steinborn retires in 2023.

Ms. Murphy, Senior Managing Director and Partner, joined Wellington in 2001 and has served in various roles, including most recently as head of Investment Strategy since 2018. In her current role, she works closely with Wellington’s clients to fully understand their investment challenges and advise on solutions that leverage the full breadth of the firm’s investment capabilities. Additionally, Ms. Murphy chairs Wellington’s Operating Committee, which is responsible for resource allocation at the firm. Previously, she was director of Equity Product Management (2016 – 2018), associate director of Global Equity Portfolio Management (2011 – 2016), consultant relations manager (2008 – 2011), and served in a variety of business manager roles (2001 – 2008). Ms. Murphy earned an MBA from Stanford University, a BS in economics and civil engineering systems from the University of Pennsylvania, and is a CFA charterholder and member of the CFA Institute.

As CFO, Ms. Murphy will be responsible for executing the firm’s financial strategy, including oversight of all financial and operational accounting functions. She will work closely with the CEO Management Team to implement the firm’s strategy and mission.

Mr. Steinborn joined Wellington in 2005 and was elected Partner in 2007.Throughout his long tenure, he contributed immeasurably to Wellington’s growth and success, leading an exceptionally capable financial and operational accounting group.
