PRESS RELEASE

ZURICH, 28 March. Wellington Management, one of the world’s leading independent asset managers with US$1.1 trillion assets under management, received a Morningstar Award for Investing Excellence 2024. At last night's award ceremony in Zurich, Wellington was named "Best Asset Manager" in Switzerland by the market research and analysis company Morningstar. The Morningstar jury based its decision on the fact that Wellington stands out in European, global and emerging market equity strategies. On the bond side, the company scores well with global and emerging market bond funds, among others. Wellington has achieved a qualitative parent rating of Above Average. Further information can be found here: The winners of the Morningstar Awards for Investing Excellence 2024.

“Winning the Best Asset Manager category for Switzerland at the Morningstar Awards for Investing Excellence confirms the success of our long-term strategy – to continuously expand our client and investment platforms and exceed the investment objectives and service expectations of our clients", said Jeno Szabo, Head of the Zurich office and Head of Institutional, Switzerland. “The award coincides with the 10-year anniversary of our Swiss office, and we are thankful for our growing client base for their continued trust and loyalty".

Wellington has seen strong growth in both the institutional and wealth channel in Switzerland, expanding its client base across banks, wealth managers, pension funds, insurance companies and family offices. In line with the business growth, the asset manager has increased its team and office resources in Zurich. Morningstar writes about Wellington Management: “More than 50 investment teams have access to a central team of equity and credit analysts as well as ESG analysts. This combines the autonomy of an investment boutique with the resources of large asset managers. There is a risk of teams working in silos here, but Wellington encourages thoughtful talent management, good succession planning and collaboration within the platform".

Growing distribution business with new partners

“We believe the breadth of our investment and research capabilities, coupled with our private and independent structure, makes us an excellent partner for a sophisticated market like Switzerland", said Derya Kara, Head of Wealth Management, Switzerland. “Our Swiss clients expect customized investment solutions, high quality products, superior returns and strong client service and we believe there is no better firm than Wellington at providing this unique combination. The Morningstar Award is testament to our client-led and investment-led approach as one of the largest asset managers globally".
